Super Birthday

Last weekend we went to Daniel's birthday party (the BFF from playgroup). Lucas went as spider man complete with gloves that make the swishing noise of shooting web.

Riley who was stuffed in the car the moment he woke up, didn't have time for his underpants over jeans and back to front bib cape. He went as a villain (the lolly licker)

"loooolleee, looolleee!" showing me is umpteenth handful of lollies.

They had a face painter and lots of activities and games. Lucas really enjoyed having his face painted and I'm sure the lady who did it had just as much fun.

Here's Lucas and his playgroup BFF Superman with muscles.

The novel idea was not to leave with a lolly bag but to leave with a present!! To my surprise, the boys were given proper wrapped presents to take home and they were awesome!
I think I'd like to do that.... one day when I can afford it :o)
Next month is Lucas' 4th birthday. So far he wants a golf set, drums and costumes of his own to play in. We'll see. Here's praying for some killer garage sales!

Cure for the blues

It is very frustrating waiting for your body to heal from surgery. It was only a bit of keyhole (or should I say keyholeS, poking, shoving, burning, cutting and stitching! I'm sure I fell off the operating table, they kicked me about a bit and popped me back on) surgery but my body is taking ages to get over it all and now 2 weeks after I still can't take the kids out anywhere that will mean lifting, walking much, manual handling of little squiggly kids into car seats etc etc. It just plain hurts. Though I'm feeling fine otherwise!

My fantastic surgeon gave me a copy of the photos they took while inside.. I'll not put those pics up because someone is alot squeamish :o)

Thank you to Trevor and Cathy for the most lovely and unexpected gift that I've kept in our room so (hopefully) they stay untouched by little hands.

Flowers (and the thought) have magical happy powers and I'm sure I must be ALOT better already :o)

x (sorry the picture isn't very good - lighting all wrong!)

Sprung

Spring has sprung right on cue! Actually the blossoms were out about two days before.. but who's counting!
We had lots of fun ripping the flowers off a camelia(?) tree and throwing them like confetti. The tree's coming down anyway for Steve's new herb garden. (Lucky me gets the sun drenched but onion weed infested old herb garden :o)

This is it.. The new patch. There's this great ugly tree fern there that we chopped a long bit off when we first moved it. It was huge! Being propped up with a stick - chop, gone! It still lives at the back of the garden surprisingly enough.

A lady from freecycle is coming to get them this coming week. I can't help thinking it's worth hundreds of dollars and she's going to sell it and make heaps of cash.. but she's going to be doing the digging and hauling so good luck to her! Ha!

 Blurgh!

Can we fix it? Monkeys Can!

Here's Lucas doing a GREAT job at screwing in some screws that were totally unnecessary but lots of fun and job satisfaction for him "helping" fixing the lock. Riley lost the key and I had to pick it open (after 3 days of not being able to get out the back door) only for Steve to find it within 20mins.
Can we fix it? YES WE CAN!

Riley enjoying a swim in the bath.. missing his dummy I think (here's to cleaning the plug from now on!)

And finally, for my funny little monkeys.....

MONKEY BREAD!

Monkey bread is a new favourite in our house. A lot less effort than cinnamon rolls and alot more fun to make and eat. More info on how it's made

Not My Ambulance

These are my two beautiful boys, learning to share popcorn on the back step.

This is my re-vamped strawberry patch under the lemon tree - with lone strawberry plant.
This is definately my brave little fireman (that thinks he's an Ambulance officer), "Ambulan, Ambulan"

.... but thankfully this is not my Ambulance.
Nanny and Grandad ("Gra-gra") enjoying the fun of a visiting local hero. I was inside recovering from recent surgical ouchies.

Injury after injury

Here's the after math. A main vein burst after a test and here's the bruising to prove it. All better now, but the boys all want "ouchies" and to be fixed up.

Daddy's had a lot of problems :o)

Lucas said he would drive the firetruck to take us to the hospital to see the dentist.. a bit confused but it sounds fun. This rain coat was the best dollar I ever spent at a garage sale. It says Fire Chief on the back

The last time..

Did you know, the last time we had a photo taken, just me and you, Riley had just been born.

They weren't great photos.. but they were real.

I miss you sweetheart.

When you get back we'll take some more. Till then take it easy.

When they're asleep

I don't know what it is (I thought it was the 3 weeks of rain and being stuck indoors) but my boys just go insane and shred the house! Today for example, after hearing Steve leave for work and Lucas up playing with trains (Riley was with me as he'd woken up at 5), I heard a faint yell and darted out of bed to find Lucas out the front in his jimmy jams calling to Daddy (who wasn't) in the car that he'd done a smelly poo - echoing down the street.
Then after sneaking 2 bananas and an orange, having breakfast, crackers and a milo bar (where the heck did that come from?!) he says he's hungry.. Then after play group he refuses to go to bed, throws lemons (that we picked yesterday) all over the garden, mostly at the house to try and hit the birds and then after a big lunch tells me he's hungry.

Riley has a bad cold and the poor thing just wants to be cuddled 24/7 and yells and screams if I have to put him down for 1min to cut up something for dinner.

Then later he pretends to be a naughty cat, bites Riley on the finger so hard the mark was purple! I gave him a drink later, asked him to try and not spill it.. I see liquid all over the floor and no it's not drink, it's wee - grrrr!!! THEN he tries to clutch the curtains in his room and slide down like a pole "DON'T DO THAT!" I warn... ok shout. Two minutes later.. crash.
Way past the eye twitch, past the aching jaw from gritted teeth. Riley thankfully dropped to sleep before I could even get him to the cott and Lucas....well, I couldn't help cuddle him up and stroke his hair while I sang him to sleep. What a sweet lovable boy. Yes he's asleep as I'm saying that. We agreed we'd try harder tomorrow. xx

Beary happy

If you look very closely you can see a bear in that tree. Riley's raking up the leaves and has no idea he's in danger!!

(Lucas has a very warm and fluffy jumper that he thinks makes him into a bear)

It's ok because Riley can fend for himself

Captured and skinned, here's our bear looking very proud of the little pumpkins we grew in the garden

A kiddy pool overflowing with Lemons from the tree.. Some could have done with another week or two but the tree stripping frenzy couldn't be stopped! Kay and Steve did a great job and now we have the task of juicing, zesting, making and baking.

Boulder bay and Stockton

I wanted to ride the camels with Lucas but I knew he'd be scared after two minutes.. or bored.
