Like Father Like Son

These are from one of Steve's bush ramblings down at the 'fish ponds' in the bush at the end of our street - not quite sure of the official name of the reserve. Suburbia abruptly stops for a few meters to show the entrance to one of Steve's favourite trails.

Another nature enthusiast who has already shown alot of interest in fish, lizards, crickets, earwigs and ofcourse butterflies. Like father like son.

Umph!

When I see pictures like this (and there aren't many of me) I commit to wearing maternity clothes ONLY! Though I can still get into most tops my regular size, they do make me look a little on the paunchy side :o) haha!

I was a bit pooped (in pic above) after making some "Gog the Frog" wheat bags for the market. They're great for little bumps and bruises when kept in the freezer.. lots of other uses ofcourse but that's my fav (second fav is using them as a gift tag by writing on their belly with a marker).

The first spring pickings - Garlic, spring onions and parsley. I forgot I can't eat raw parsley being an 'up the duffer' so the neighbours enjoyed it.

These are the delightful girls from next door that come to play sometimes. They had alot of fun teasing Steve about splitting the hammock.

End of season

Well it's the end of spinach season. This is a pic just before I pulled the lot out.. might put zucchini there next.
The potatoes behind (in white boxes) are doing really well.
This is 'the strip' with capsicums (red, orange, yellow) ,eggplant, basil, climbing beans, cucumber, lemon balm, nasturtium and celery. More spuds right at the end.

We have this lovely patch of buttercups in our garden which is completely random as they're an English wild flower. I love them. They have shiny petals that when you hold up under your chin they'll tell you if you like butter or not (if it reflects yellow then you do).

Steve's Strawberries

Steve's little strawberry patch is now in full swing - finally!
This was the first handful from one day's pickings and there's more popping up all the time!
It's a bit of relief to be honest as this is the second week not being able to get out to the markets, so having this lovely home grown organic fruit is a God send!

We're dreaming of having rows of strawberries that will give us such a glut that we can't possibly eat them all and have to make jam. I can't imagine having so many that we couldn't eat them!

Sunday gear

One of the outfits from Farmor and Gramps that came in Lucas' birthday box.
He hasn't been fully dressed everyday with this nice weather so we've not had that many opportunities to show him in the new clothes.

This was last Sunday as Lucas and I waited for Daddy to finish with his meeting for Young Men's. Lucas had scoffed all the other kids food (as usual) and was now getting on with his own.
