Welcome to Riley

So here is Riley. A popular name given to males and it comes from Old English and Irish origin. Riley means Valiant or Courageous. It's true meaning breaks down into "Field Clearing". Rye (Field) and Leah (wood, clearing, meadow). The boys name Riley ranked #101 in 2007.

As for the rest of us in brief we have the following meanings :

Lucas : Light

Suzi : Lily

Steve : Crowned

A new boy has arrived 11.12.08

Welcome to the latest addition to the Perryman family. A strong healthy baby boy whom yet is to be named. All we know is that Lucas and this little one will no doubt get into all sorts of mischief given Lucas's thrive for adventure.

Anyway, Suzi is doing well, tired and in need of some sleep. The little one is doing just fine. Once we have a name we will post that on here too. Till then enjoy the two pics. More to follow.

Trauma Teddies should not be called Douglas.

Actually it really was the perfect name for the teddy. Picture this - My paramedic trainer and I get called to a little girl who has hurt herself and we take her to hospital (triage bay). Strangely she has not said a word since her accident, yet Mom says she normally does not shut up, she is the noisiest out of four children. Her parents could not get her to speak, neither the nurses, or the doctors, or my trainer.... nobody could get her to say even one word.

This went on for over an hour. The little girl was given a trauma teddy to help her with the event and help her to open up and say something. We all came up with names for the teddy in a hope she would verbally agree with a suggested name...but nothing. I asked the girl's mother what the older brother's name is. She said "Douglas". So I went over to the little girl and said "I think the teddy should be called Douglas". Before I could take a breath there beamed out a stern voice from the little girl "NO...that's my brother's name" - well the emergency staff let out one big cheer in unison.....she can speak after all.

However the little girl had a point, trauma teddies really should not be named Douglas.

Ambulance Life as we know it.

This is what we get to play around in all day.
Not bad going when your company vehicle is a Mercedes.
Hoping that next year they bring out the convertible model.

No point being in a ambulance without the shades...mandatory safety equipment.

The air viva...... the life part of the ambulance.

This is Duncan, my paramedic trainer.

Like Father Like Son

These are from one of Steve's bush ramblings down at the 'fish ponds' in the bush at the end of our street - not quite sure of the official name of the reserve. Suburbia abruptly stops for a few meters to show the entrance to one of Steve's favourite trails.

Muddy but happy with his catch of the day.
Another nature enthusiast who has already shown alot of interest in fish, lizards, crickets, earwigs and ofcourse butterflies. Like father like son.

4 weeks to go! (36wks)

Here you go Bron and Farmor, proper preggie pics.

Umph!

When I see pictures like this (and there aren't many of me) I commit to wearing maternity clothes ONLY! Though I can still get into most tops my regular size, they do make me look a little on the paunchy side :o) haha!
I'll put a better pic in soon Bron and Farmor - promise!

I was a bit pooped (in pic above) after making some "Gog the Frog" wheat bags for the market. They're great for little bumps and bruises when kept in the freezer.. lots of other uses ofcourse but that's my fav (second fav is using them as a gift tag by writing on their belly with a marker).

The first spring pickings - Garlic, spring onions and parsley. I forgot I can't eat raw parsley being an 'up the duffer' so the neighbours enjoyed it.

These are the delightful girls from next door that come to play sometimes. They had alot of fun teasing Steve about splitting the hammock.

End of season

Well it's the end of spinach season. This is a pic just before I pulled the lot out.. might put zucchini there next.
The potatoes behind (in white boxes) are doing really well.
This is 'the strip' with capsicums (red, orange, yellow) ,eggplant, basil, climbing beans, cucumber, lemon balm, nasturtium and celery. More spuds right at the end.
Lucas cooling off his botty.
Lucas cooling off his bee sting and eating frozen peas (that's from me... yes, love frozen peas)
We have this lovely patch of buttercups in our garden which is completely random as they're an English wild flower. I love them. They have shiny petals that when you hold up under your chin they'll tell you if you like butter or not (if it reflects yellow then you do).

Steve's Strawberries

You can really tell my photos from Steve's artistic ones...
Steve's little strawberry patch is now in full swing - finally!
This was the first handful from one day's pickings and there's more popping up all the time!
It's a bit of relief to be honest as this is the second week not being able to get out to the markets, so having this lovely home grown organic fruit is a God send!

We're dreaming of having rows of strawberries that will give us such a glut that we can't possibly eat them all and have to make jam. I can't imagine having so many that we couldn't eat them!

Sunday gear

One of the outfits from Farmor and Gramps that came in Lucas' birthday box.
He hasn't been fully dressed everyday with this nice weather so we've not had that many opportunities to show him in the new clothes.

This was last Sunday as Lucas and I waited for Daddy to finish with his meeting for Young Men's. Lucas had scoffed all the other kids food (as usual) and was now getting on with his own.

Good Lucas getting Daddy to eat his vegetables!
